Starting a Herb Garden when you have very Little Space

Starting a Herb Garden when you have very Little Space

The great thing about starting a herb garden is that you don't even need a lot of space to get great, usable results. Herbs can also be very hardy plants. If you're just getting started with gardening and you don't know much about it, starting a herb garden would be a great first step. These hardy and easy-to-grow plants are kind of hard to go wrong with.

The first thing you do of course is to decide where in your space you would like to grow your garden. If you have no space whatsoever because you're an apartment dweller or something, you can easily grow that herb garden in gardening containers slung over your window or balcony. You can have as many window containers for your herbs as you have room for.

The great thing about starting a herb garden is that it's a great way to bring wonderful new sights and smells to your house. You can either grow herbs that are used in the kitchen or ones that just look and smell wonderful. The more you look for and learn to grow aromatic herbs, the more wonderful the atmosphere around your home will be.

Herbs, like plants of any other kind, have specific times of the year that they prefer to grow. Pick and choose the herbs you need for each season, and you could always have something nice and fresh growing in your pots. Choose perennial plants, and you could get by with as little hassle as possible learning how those plants need to be treated and merely going ahead with that forever.

If you decide to grow a kitchen herb garden in your pots, maybe a good idea would be to start them off indoors before you actually hang them out the window. Make sure that you read up about how much room the herbs need when they are all grown up, and use pots of the right size. Using fertilized potting soil and following growth instructions carefully should keep things moving along at a healthy pace.

Many seeds may need a good bit is humidity to grow well. This doesn't have to be hard to achieve. If it's the seeds of your herbs that you're worried about, you only have to do is spray around the pot from a spray bottle from time to time. This should achieve the desired results. You just need to be sure that you don't use too much water to spray seeds just need moisture and not any actual wetness.

Once your seeds actually begin to sprout, you may need to tend to them by making sure that they have enough space to grow. You dont want them crowding one another. To fix any crowding, you can easily fix the problem by prudent trimming and pruning.

Once your little plants are robust and healthy, it may be time to actually take them to their permanent home on your window.
