I dont know what it is about shopping malls and teenagers, but they seem to love them. Though I didnt get to go to them when I was a teen, I would have rather hung out there than some of the places that I ended up in. The mall was just not close enough to where I lived. I would think that even though they might be tempted to spend money while they are at the mall, this would be safer than riding around in cars or hanging out somewhere else. Besides, teens cant spend money that they arent given anyway, so if a teen spends a lot, the parents dont have anyone to complain to other than themselves.

Shopping malls are rather fascinating if you think about it. They tend to annoy me, but when I have a huge variety of things that I have to buy, it is nice to have a bunch if diverse stores right there all in the same place. I prefer the strip mall type of place, but the shopping malls work when I have to go. I try to avoid them around the holidays for obvious reasons, but sometimes, you just have to put up with all of the people bumping into you in order to get what you need when you need it.

Many thought that the shopping malls would disappear once Internet shopping became more popular, but that has not really been the case. There may have been some losses, but if you think about it, there are things that are not good buys when you get them online. Many would rather try on clothing and shoes before they buy them, and for larger ticket items, the shipping costs you incur when ordering online can be outrageous. It is far easier and cheaper to get these things from the shopping malls. Many times, you can get large things delivered very cheaply.

Though you might not like shopping malls, you can be grateful when your kids hang out there. They might run into peer temptation there, but it will not be as bad as it would be if they were left to wander the streets or hang out in peoples houses. You might be good about monitoring teens when they are in your home, but not all parents are aware of what could be going on, and they dont pay any attention. Teens have to behave somewhat in shopping malls, and the dangers are less. You still have to know who they are with and what they are doing though. Make sure you keep up.
