The most famous of the Disney theme parks is probably the Magic Kingdom. Thats the park with all the rides you remember from your own childhood, including Its a Small World, Space Mountain, Pirates of the Caribbean and of course the Matterhorn. It would be remiss to plan a Disney vacation without including a day for the Magic Kingdom. And you will need a whole day. The park is subdivided into several themed lands, such as Fantasyland, Tomorrowland, Frontierland and Adventureland. Be prepared to wait in long lines to experience the most popular attractions, and dont expect to be able to see and do everything in the Magic Kingdom all in one day. Plan your day and know your priorities, and you will have the kind of truly magical experience thats only offered by Disney theme parks.
Of course if youre in for a more informative experience, dont neglect to take the family to the Epcot theme park. Walt Disney originally envisioned Epcot as a functioning city of the future the name actually stands for Experimental Prototype City of Tomorrow. The park didnt turn out exactly as Walt planned, evolving into a series of educational rides and pavilions which entertain even as they enlighten. Epcot consists of two sections: Future World and the World Showcase. Both offer a host of rides, shows and pavilions which are fun for the whole family. Epcot is certainly the most educational of the Disney theme parks, but dont worry its also a lot of fun.
Other Disney theme parks which you might want to visit include Disneys Animal Kingdom and Disneys Hollywood Studios. The Animal Kingdom features real, live animals. Your family can enjoy a safari through Africa, observing and learning about the wildlife and snapping pictures as you go. Disneys Hollywood Studios is a quite different experience, with themed rides and shows. Dont miss the Beauty and the Beast stage show or the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror! But if your time at the park is limited, you might choose to skip one or both of these two Disney theme parks. Theyre fun, but they dont have the cant-miss appeal of the Magic Kingdom and Epcot.
If time permits, Disneyworld offers many other Disney theme parks for your family to enjoy. Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon are water parks, which make wonderful relief from hot Florida temperatures. In the evening, you might consider a visit to Downtown Disney, a sort of shopping mall done Disney style. Youll find entertainment for the whole family there.
However you decide to spend your Disneyworld vacation, you will not find a shortage of things to do. With all the different Disney theme parks to choose from, youll be planning your next Disney vacation before youve even left Orlando.
