Xbox Problems: Spoilsport for the Avid Gamer

As much as it is fun, certain Xbox consoles face technical problems that can render it completely useless sometimes. Xbox problems have been a serious issue that took Microsoft to court. Particularly with the release of Xbox 360, it has been noticed that there is a high probability of failure associated with these consoles owing to some commonly occurring problems. These problems are usually manifested as a series of red colored lights flashing on the ring indicator. It means there has been a general hardware failure. Thanks to the high rate of occurrence of Xbox problems, this flash of red light on the ring is nicknamed as The Red Ring of Death.

Xbox problems have put Microsoft in a tight spot, forcing it to monetarily compensate those who have been affected. The problems have surfaced soon after its release on November, 2005. Initially Microsoft tried to downplay the Xbox problems as an errant behavior, claiming only 3% - 5% was the failure rate. As the issues become more prevalent, Microsoft finally openly acknowledged the problem in July 2007.

Some of the stalwarts of the electronics industry identified the root cause of the problem as the errors in the graphics chip. These graphics chips are usually designed by niche ASIC vendors. The cost associated with the design contributes to a major part of the cost towards the console. Microsoft had resorted to in house chip designing to cut down on the total cost.

There are some other causes that were also rumored to have ruined the Xboxs success. One of such prominent cause is the possible soldering defect. There might have been air bubbles in the soldering creating some weak spots. The problems may also be due the failure of the internal cooling system that reduces the operating temperature of the console.

In addition to the technical inadequacies, rounded scratches were found on discs used in the consoles. It turned out that some of the drives didnt have the proper mechanism to hold the discs in place. Some video failures were also reported with consoles that showed no red light flashes. The audio was functioning perfectly during these instances.

Even though it was an ambitious and much hyped product by Microsoft, the enthusiasm around the product died down faster that it was imagined. People who bought the consoles waiting for hours in the queues when it was first released were more than just disappointed. The success of Nintendos Wii also hurt the already technically struggling Xbox. The product is still party to numerous lawsuits and investigations in different countries. Microsoft has not been able to fix the problems completely and catch up with its competitors. Literally, millions of gamers were let down by the gaming console.

The problems that riddled Xbox consoles have given rise to surprise opportunities. Talented technical people have found some quick fixes for some of the minor problems and made easy buck by repairing or upgrading the Xbox 360. Microsoft has recently announced a new interactive gaming experience which is expected to shadow the Xboxs failure.

Xbox Repair Center

If you love your Xbox, then you will likely take care of it and make sure that it does not get damaged. But, as in all things, it may one day get damaged, if it hasnt already. So what do you do when your 360 does not power up? An Xbox repair center will likely help you out. One of the good things about Microsofts Xbox is that it comes with free repairs if it gets damaged. You are therefore likely better off if you took the time to contact a repair center rather than doing it yourself.

Consider also that Microsoft usually ships your 360 with a repair address. Usually all one has to do is call Microsoft and request information on how to locate the nearest repair center. This is much quicker and easier than having to ship it with the address given. Initially, free shipping was even provided. However, it has since changed.

If you have had your Xbox 360 taken for repairs to an Xbox repair center you will likely have noticed how long it takes to have it repaired and shipped back. There have been a lot of complaints from Xbox owners that it takes quite a long time. Some complain that Microsoft separates them from their precious console for 3 to 4 weeks. It is also not surprising that some people take over a month to have their consoles repaired.

Usually, the journey to the Xbox repair center looks something like this. An Xbox owner calls customer service and describes the problem. If it is found that the problem can be repaired, a box with prepaid shipping is sent to the customer who uses it to send the console to the Xbox repair center. On arrival, it is either fixed or replaced and sent back. As a policy, the repair times generally take between 2 to 3 weeks. However, the new policy has also come with increased calls. Thus, in an email, the company said that turnaround times will likely take longer in the interim.

Xbox Live Forums, a part of service that allows users to connect with other players via their game consoles has countless threads of the agony many face while separated away from their machines. There have also been complaints that some consoles remain faulty even after a visit to the Xbox repair center. Some have complained that their consoles have just been replaced with older refurbished ones.

All in all, an Xbox repair center seems to be the better option for many. A warranty extension is also offered for consoles that display 3 blinking lights generally known as the Red Ring of Death in the gaming community. These lights signal a general hardware failure. In such situations, an Xbox repair center will likely be the next stop for your console. However, Microsoft assures you that you will be re-united with your prized console in no time.

In the market for a vehicle? Consider the hidden value

In the market for a vehicle? Consider the hidden value in the 4x4 used trucks

With the price of fuel going up once again, we're all geared to finding a fuel efficient vehicle. During the summer months, gas prices inevitably go up, as demand is greatest and the oil companies have a captive audience of consumers. If you want to drive, you're just going to have to pay the seasonally adjusted cost. While the most fuel efficient cars save you dollars at the gas pump, the price of this coveted vehicle most often requires that you take out an equally pricey car loan from the bank. Now is the time for all of us drivers to think outside the box.

When you're looking for a new vehicle at least one that's new to you - the 4x4 used trucks are probably not the first to come to mind. The terms '4x4' 'used trucks' and 'mileage' tend to make this type of transportation an automatic bottom-of-the-list candidate, right?

However, just as you put a big thumbs down on the idea, so is everyone else. The 4x4 used trucks on the market just don't sell well, no matter how well maintained they may be. Both private parties and car dealers are desperate to attract a buyer and this is reflected in the advertised price. This means you can find some real gems, as well as great price deals in this vehicle buyer's market.

This can be a prudent choice for the right driving situation. If you're planning to use this 4x4 truck as a second vehicle and not as daily commute transportation, you might want to calculate the approximate miles you'll be putting on the truck each year. Let's say you can pick up one of these 4x4 used trucks that's just four years old, for $5000 and in good condition. It's likely the original owner has already put on a new set of tires, so that's not something you'll have to worry about soon. When weighed against the cost of a similar year, fuel efficient car, you may well come out ahead on the not-so fuel efficient truck deal. Let's see how.

First, you'll most likely be financing a substantially lesser sum on the bank loan. This means a quicker payoff and less interest over the term of the loan. Second, you may well realize a big savings on your vehicle insurance, due to safety and risk factors. While the smaller, more fuel efficient car gives you savings at the gas pump, it's not viewed by the insurance companies as doing so well in an accident. The larger, heavier 4x4 used trucks are a better risk, which translates to a better insurance rate. The third factor to consider is that with automakers now being pressured to create more eco-friendly vehicles which burn alternative fuels, we should expect that today's gas burning, fuel efficient cars may become the dinosaurs of the future. Opting for one of these now might leave you holding the bag in terms of resale value.

The 4x4 used trucks now available at attractive prices certainly deserve a second look. Whenever pondering the purchase of any vehicle, check out consumer safety and reliability reports before deciding on a particular make and model. Then go through the classifieds, looking for the one-owner vehicle, whose owner has kept good maintenance records. Have your mechanic check the vehicle out before plunking down your cash.

If the 4x4 used trucks are suited to your driving situation, you may, ironically, be able to save a considerable sum of money by buying this currently unpopular ride!

Six easy exercises for fabulously shapely legs: the 8-minute legs

Six easy exercises for fabulously shapely legs: the 8-minute legs routine!

Most of us women spend time assessing our bodies, finding fault with at least two or three areas. One of the most commonly bemoaned are the lack of shapely legs. Due to largely sedentary factors, thighs get a little too flabby for our taste, calves are too plump, those unattractive 'saddlebags' at the hip line and ankles that are too thick are enough to prompt you to do something about it, now! However, you probably don't follow through, believing that you've got to make a gigantic, time consuming deal out of the process. You don't have to bicycle or jog for hours each week to achieve your goal. As a matter of fact, in just 8 minutes a day, you can address all of these problems! The 8-minute legs routine is the solution. Here we've got six easy exercises to get those shapely legs and keep them. I'll bet you can barely shower in eight minutes. So let's run down the list of the 8-minute legs program.

1.Begin with the standing toe touch. Standing with your legs together, bend from the waist, extending your fingers towards your toes. If you can touch your toes, great. If not, reach as far as you can without hurting, bouncing towards the toes 10 times. As you do this exercise, you're stretching the muscles of the backs of your thighs and calves. You'll eventually be able to touch your toes. The ultimate goal is to place your palms flat on the floor.

2.The second exercise in your 8-minute legs program works on the inside muscles of your thighs and calves. Sit down and spread your legs about eighteen inches apart. Bending from the waist, extend each arm towards each foot. Again, if you can't touch your toes with your fingertips without hurting, that's OK. You'll work up to it over time. Repeat 10 times.

3.Now it's time to stand up and march! Just march, standing in place, raising your legs as high as you comfortably can with each step. March 40 paces in place. This portion of your 8-minute legs routine helps tone muscles not often used.

4.Here's one I'm not overly fond of, but it's very effective at toning and strengthening legs, calves and ankles. Push-ups do require some strength in your arms as well, so here's your chance to get rid of any hints of flab in the upper arms. Try to do the 'non-cheating' push-ups (from your feet). If you can't, do the version where you push up from your knees.

5.This part of your 8-minute legs workout not only helps tone up thighs and calves, but helps flatten your belly. You guessed it sit ups. The easy version is done by fully extending your arms back behind your head, which makes it easier to get your upper body off the ground and touching your toes, as possible. The more difficult version is the elbows bent, hands locked behind your head. Both types tone up those legs and thighs admirably. With elbows bent, your abs reap the benefits of this exercise more quickly.

6.For lack of a better name, I call this 8-minute legs routine the 'saddlebag' remover ... you know, those bits of excess fat that find their way to the sides of your hip line. Begin by standing and stretching your arms out to each side. Slide one arm down one leg, while arching your other arm over your head. The idea is to slide the one as far down the leg as possible, with the arching arm as far in the same direction as possible. Not only does this exercise address the 'saddlebags', but also tones your inner arms.

If you choose four exercises each day, on a rotating basis and perform each for just two minutes each, your 8-minute legs workout will have you looking fabulous in just about a month! Divide your 8-minute legs program into two 4-minute workouts, morning and evening. Now that's an easy recipe for great legs!

Ranking the 100 greatest guitarists

When naming the 100 greatest guitarists, most folks would suggest you start with Jimi Hendrix and just go from there. Hendrix was so good, so distinct, so incendiary that most people - critics, other guitarists, etc etc - have a hard time imagining ranking anyone higher than Jimi.

But Hendrix wouldn't feel that way, because he seemed to get it: Music is not competition. How can you rank people that aren't competiting with each other? Sure, you may like Jimmy Page better than Eric Clapton, but that doesn't make the Clapton fan incorrect. It's all just a matter of opinion.

So then, the idea of constructing a list of the 100 greatest guitarists is kind of a non-starter. Everyone has their favorites, everyone has those guitarists they dislike. Plus how do you work with someone like Pete Townsend? Townsend was without question an absolute master of the instrument, and an even better songwriter. But then something happened in the '80s. Maybe he just got too old, maybe the drugs went to his head a little bit, maybe it was the alcohol - "Who Are You" for example, is a song he wrote about waking up on a doorstep in the Bowery after a night of hedonistic excess. Well, Townsend was unquestionably great. But then, seemingly overnight, he became a parody of himself, someone who wouldn't be in shouting distance of the 100 greatest guitarists ever. Which Townsend do you rate?

Another problem is rating the "new" guitarists. Jack White is the real stand-out, and his body of work is reaching sufficient size to say "yeah, he belongs on the list." But what of the guitarist from "Muse", who've released two amazing albums but might not produce a third? Is that enough work to guarantee him a spot on the list? Is the list of the 100 greatest guitarists supposed to be based upon talent alone, or does productivity come into play?

I guess this is why it's such a fun subject to discuss. Everybody gets to have an opinion on it, and since it's all subjective, everyone gets to be correct! Personally my favorite guitarist of all time is David Gilmour of Pink Floyd. Others might turn their noses up a bit at that, but Gilmour's solos and fills move me in a way that others haven't. Notice, though, I said "my favorite" instead of "the greatest." You've gotta realize that subjectivity is the issue here.

So if you're attempting this list, keep that in mind. It's fun to debate, it's fun to rationalize, and it's a hell of a lot of fun to listen to some great music and figure out why you like one more than the other. But remember, your list of the 100 greatest guitarists is YOUR list, not anyone else's. It's a personal thing.

Enjoying the 1200 calorie diet

If you've grown up in western society, you've grown up in a place where calorie counting is often looked-down upon and ridiculed. For decades we've been an "eat what you want, when you want" culture, and our waistlines now show it.

It's time to get back to good nutrition, and that starts with the 1200 calorie diet. Gone will be the TGIFriday's appetizers, or the ColdStone Creamery sundaes. These are things that you'll have to cut out of your life completely - and for your own good! - if you want to get fit and healthy.

Front and center for the 1200 calorie diet are lean proteins like chicken, eggs and fish. The best of the fish is salmon, prefarbly wild caught. Wild caught salmon tends to be higher in omega-3 fatty acids when compared to farm-raised salmon, which is higher in omega-6 and omega-9 fatty acids. These latter two don't share the same anti-inflammatory properties of omega-3, and are therefore not as beneficial to your body in reducing overall swelling and inflammation. That's not to say farm-raised salmon is bad for you - you could eat it every day and be perfectly health - just that wild caught happens to be that much better.

Another staple of the 1200 calorie diet will be fruits and vegetables. "An apple a day keeps the doctor away," the old saying goes, and that's mostly right. Apples are a great regulator of blood-sugar, meaning you won't get hunger pangs in between meals, meaning that it'll be easier to stay to your 1200 calorie diet. Other great fruits and vegetables in this realm are bananas, carrots and grapes. You can chow down on all of them and eat pretty much as much as you want. It's best to have little snacks between meals, and in each instance the best snack is a piece of fruit or a handful of vegetables.

If you're overly hungry between meals, feel free to eat a handful of nuts - almonds, walnuts or the like. Avoid peanuts, and try to only buy fresh, non-processed and preferably unsalted nuts. They'll be a little bland at first, but as you get used to your 1200 calorie diet you'll see your tastes changing and your appetities for natural foods growing.

Finally, you must learn portion control. It's one of the hardest things to master in America today, especially when going out to eat. Just one appetizer at a chain restaurant can run between 500-2000 calories. You do the math - that just doesn't fit into the 1200 calorie diet. So avoid that type of thing at all costs, and remember that Rome wasn't built in a day!

Should You Try A 1500 Calorie Diet?

Weight loss is a hot button topic in our looks-obsessed society, and even though the exaggeratedly waifish look seems to be receding in popularity, men and women are still looking to shed pounds by any means necessary. One current trend that is gaining some traction is the low-calorie method, where people eat according to a 1500 calorie diet roughly three-quarters of what an average human should consume. In this article, I will examine these diets and evaluate their effectiveness and safety for prospective dieters before they do something that they would later regret.

Proponents of the 1500 calorie diet claim that the average person can lose five pounds a month on it, which is a reasonable amount of weight to lose without any severe health complications. The essential methodology, much like any other diet, involves tricking your bodys metabolism into consuming stores of adipose fat to maintain enough energy for your daily activities. The fewer calories you consume, the more your body needs to turn to its stored reserves (an evolutionary throwback to the times when food was not readily available) to survive. The math is simple, but the practice is more complicated.

Calorie-reduction diets have been common for nearly a century (and, indeed, a 1200 calorie version is now making the rounds alongside the 1500 calorie diet), but with the rise of vitamins and supplements, they are less risky than before. As long as you stick to certain nutritional guidelines, a 1500 calorie diet can be undertaken in relative safety. Of course, if you have any medical condition that affects your metabolism, blood sugar level, or digestive system, you should consult with your doctor before making any major changes to your eating habits.

The major advantage to a 1500 calorie diet is that it does not require any special products, supplements or exercises all you have to do is monitor your calorie consumption and ensure that it lands below your daily threshold. Unfortunately, it can often be quite difficult to do so, especially if you are not already used to calorie counting. In addition, reducing your bodys caloric intake can also have the opposite effect on your metabolism that you desire sending your body into starvation mode, reducing your available energy and essentially putting you into a sort of hibernation. The best way to avoid this happening is to make sure to get plenty of appropriate exercise during your diet. Dont try to build muscle, but keep your aerobic and cardio regimens going.

I hope this introduction to 1500 calorie diets has proved useful. Best of luck in all your weight loss endeavors.

Learning about diabetes

The disease diabetes in the United States has reached almost epidemic levels in the past 40 years. Our diets, our lack of physical activity, and food additives have made the US populace into a breeding ground for the disease.

So what's it important to learn about diabetes? First, you need to know exactly what the disase is. According to the American Diabetes Association, "Diabetes is a disease in which the body does not produce or properly use insulin. Insulin is a hormone that is needed to convert sugar, starches and other food into energy needed for daily life."

So the first thing you need to monitor is your sugar intake, as letting your blood sugar get too low or too high can lead to a diabetic coma. These comas can range from light dizzyness, to passing out entirely, to an actual coma that ends with fatality. If you're diabetic or pre-diabetic, it's important to take the threat of the disease seriously.

A not necessarily intuitive fact about diabetes is that not all sugar effects the system equally. Take, for example, high gructose corn syrup. This is a manufactured sweetender that began to be used in place of sugar in American foods in the early 1970s. Not coincidently, this coincides almost linearly with the diabetes boom in US society. There are many studies out now that show that large concentrations of high fructose corn syrup is much more likely to effect your body's insulin levels, as well as its responses to sugar and other forms of glucose, than is a natural sweetener.

Does this mean high fructose corn syrup is the cause of the spike in diabetes? It seems that way, certainly, but it doesn't necessarily follow. There could, repeat COULD be other causes, unlikely as that may be.

However, it does seem likely that high fructose corny syrup is the culprit. Check your bottle of soda, or your breakfast cereal. Even nominally "healthy" brands use high fructose corn syrup instead of regular sugar now. Check your catsup - it'll be in there, too. Check almost any pre-processed food and you'll find that it contains corn syrup. This product has altered our body chemistry rapidly, and we haven't been able to keep up biologically. You want a solid step about diabetes prevention? Don't eat any pre-processed foods. If you can leave it out on your countertop for a week and it doesn't go bad, you don't want that in your system.

It's important to be aware of that. Nearly 1 in 4 Americans have diabetes of some sort now, and it's in your best interest to avoid becoming a part of that group. And if you are a part of that group, it's in your best interest to watch closely everything you put into your body.

About France for the American Visitor

Everyone knows at least a few things about France. The Eiffel Tower, baguettes and berets. Any time anyone says anything about France, it all sort of sounds the same. "The food!" or "It's magical!". And if you've never been to France, let me assure you, everything you've ever heard about France is true (except for that bit about how rude French people are, but more on that in a second).

I've been to France several times, both in Paris and out in the French countryside. One of the things about France that strikes me the most is that it is exactly how you see it in movies and read about in books. There just is an air of magic - a rustic and timeless aura about France that you cannot deny.

Of course, when one says anything about France, they almost always start with Paris. The so-called City of Lights, Paris is easily my favorite city in the world (and I've seen a few). The Hausmannization makes the city charming from every angle, the main streets are wide, bright and clean. It's a walking city with the most efficient and cleanest Metro or subway system that I've seen. It's beautiful, simple as that.

One of the most commonly heard complaints about France are the people. The typical stereotype is that they're a bunch of coffee and cheese eating, deodorant-lacking, rude wimps. That's only half true. The people of Paris typically enjoy their espressos standing at a local cafe, and really, this is perhaps my favorite thing about France anyway. And who doesn't like cheese? They smell fine and I didn't notice any wimp-like behavior. And they're not nearly as rude or anti-American as you've heard. Waiters are routinely kind, prompt and gracious, even if you can't speak any French.

There's more about France than just Paris. The south shores of France bask in sunlight as the Mediterranean lap up on its beaches. But just as striking are the beaches to the north, an hour outside of Paris on the English Channel. The rustic and beautiful fields and farms make welcome summer retreats.

Of course, there's only so much you can say about France in a couple hundred words online. If you want to find out more about France, there are plenty of excellent guide books available at your local bookstore. Of course, you might be more inclined to search the Internet for information about France, but beware. Most people heighten their experiences in forums and chatrooms and highlight only the very best or the very worst of their time spent in France. Finally, the best way, (some might say the only way) to really find out about France for is to go there yourself!

Learning about guitars

The guitar is the defining instrument of blues and rock and roll, so by default it has become the defining instrument of the American music experience. If you want to learn about guitars, you should really understand that you'll be learning the history of music in America.

The guitar became so omnipresent because it's such a flexible instrument. You can play chords, you can play a bassline. You can take the melody or act as a rhythm section. A guitarist in the hands of a master is like an orchestra unto itself, able to sound like more than one instrument at a time.

I first learned about guitars when I was a young kid - no more than four or five years old - and my aunt would play and sing in her rocking chair. She played Irish folk songs, plucking them out easily and singing out the lyrics in her beautiful alto voice. Hers was a standard, six-string acoustic guitar of the type you can see and hear every day just about anywhere, but each guitar really has its own unique style and personality.

The typical guitar is six string, but there are other styles as well. You can find a four string guitar, or a 7 string, or even the 12 string - probably the second most popular and well known besides the six string. Such luminaries as Pete Townsend, Robbie Krieger and Tom Marello have all played the 12 string guitar to great effect, adding yet another dimension to this remarkable instrument.

If you look hard enough, you could even find an 18 string guitar. Go to Youtube and look it up - you can hear folks plucking out familiar tunes on this unfamiliar instrument.

Of course, one of the other things that has made guitars so prevalent is the fact that as an instrument it's equally great acoustically and electrically. Most bluesmen made their name playing the acoustic guitar; most rock and roll guitar heroes are known for their work with the electric guitar. There's something about guitars - maybe it's the ability to self-harmonize - taht lends the instrument that range.

Once you've learned about guitars and how they shaped music, the next step is up to you. Maybe the guitar speaks to you and you're ready to pick it up and become the next BB King. Maybe you've decided to become a bassist instead, which is understandable - less pressure! Either way, understanding the origin of the instrument's popularity today is key to getting the most from yourself musically.

Are abstract paintings really art? It depends ...

It's true that 'beauty is in the eye of the beholder'. Just as people are attracted to one individual and not another, it's the same when it comes to art. I recall, as a child, my elderly Great Aunt, squinting her eyes through her glasses, looking at an abstract painting in my parent's home. What is that? You can't even tell what it is! Not very gracious of her to make this remark, but it's an opinion shared by plenty of people with respect to abstract paintings.

It was much the same when the Impressionists began displaying their work in the 19th century. Art collectors were in a tizzy over this new style of painting, because it didn't match up with what they were accustomed to deeming 'art'. However, in the end, Van Gogh, Monet, Degas and Gauguin, among many others, eventually took the world by storm. Their paintings now sell for fabulous sums.

Then came Salvador Dali and Picasso to push the envelope even further. Picasso might be said to be the master of abstract painting, with his rearranged body parts and upside down faces, while Dali was a master of surrealism. Their works inspired new generations of abstract painters.

So if you enjoy art, but are one of those who hasn't given a chance to abstract art, check the Sunday paper for abstract painting exhibits and go take a look. Check out some of the online art galleries which feature abstract paintings and broaden your artistic horizons.

IMHO, the best abstract paintings are those which pique your imagination, are well composed in terms of color and a balanced design and which suggest more than one interpretation. These are the ones that turn out to be keepers, simply because they continue to be intriguing.

The key to appreciating abstract art works lies in your own imagination. Attend a couple of local exhibits and look around online as well. You may not like everything you find, but you'll find some that will challenge your eye and imagination. Perhaps you'll be fascinated with a particular palette of colors, or an interesting design or arrangement. Abstract art has a way of triggering memories in a particularly unique way which has meaning for you. Keep your mind open and receptive to what the artist might be trying to convey.

Of course, you're sure to run across other types, which may do nothing for you visually or mentally. For example, the splatter-the-paint technique doesn't really thrill me, but art is a personal thing. I like more orderly compositions. My sister is one more taken with a random, free thinking approach reflected in her art preferences.

Once you begin to look at the spectrum of styles, palettes and composition available in abstract paintings, you'll start to appreciate this form of art work. You might also take a class on art appreciation. Who knows, you may then want to try your own hand at this form of expression. Remember that, beauty is, in the eye of the beholder.

Wireless LANs in Todays computing

Over the past 10 years, the world has become increasingly mobile. As a result of this, the traditional ways of networking have evidently proved inadequate to meet the challenges of this lifestyle. Physical connection to a network dramatically reduces this mobility and as a result, productivity is also affected. Users who thus access wireless network connectivity avoid these restrictions and allows them a great deal of free movement.

No matter how protocols are designed, a user who has access wireless network has the most obvious advantage, mobility. A mobile phone user can drive miles and still be able to hold a conversation due to the wireless connectivity that exists. Initially, mobile telephony was expensive. However, their widespread use has brought costs down dramatically. Likewise, wireless LANs were expensive at first but their costs have since then dramatically gone down. Today, if you by or own a laptop, you will likely have access wireless network ability and be able to connect to any wireless hotspot in your vicinity.

When you have an access wireless network authorization, you also get a lot of flexibility. This, in turn, translates to rapid deployment. With the infrastructure built and configured to offer services to new users, a user with anauthorization code or password can access wireless network or networks without having to run cables, punch terminals or patch new jacks. In a fixed network, adding a user would likely involve making physical connections which can translate to more expenses. Flexibility can also be seen in older buildings. Wireless networks can be deployed rapidly in such environments since the need for construction is virtually zero.

A user with an access wireless network authorization will usually need to be authenticated from an access point. An access point allows users to connect to the network resources as well as other users. Usually, this will be a physical component located in a strategic position and accepts and relays the radio signals. An access wireless network authorization will usually be either a password or simply a request to join the network. Once approved, the user will gain access to all shared public services and resources. Just like in a fixed network gaining access wireless network authorization will allow you to be identified either a name or your IP address.

The access point is responsible for giving the network users their IP addresses which can then be used to identify the name of the computer. Having access wireless network, while it offers greater mobility and flexibility, it however offers limited bandwidth and therefore tends to be more unreliable and slower. Improvements in this area continue to make wireless networks the better option for many.

Pursuing a Career in Accounting

Accountants are the people who are delegated the responsibility of auditing and accounting the financial activities of a business. Some of the accounting activities they undertake include payroll, tax compliance, overseeing books and others. If you believe that you are good with numbers, then consider taking accounting courses. It could just be the start of a lucrative and an exciting career path.

Accounting courses include a study of the all aspects of accounting including auditing, cost accounting and such topics as corporate and individual taxation. It will also be necessary to hone ones skills in the use of accounting information systems. If you are thinking of a career in this direction, it will require you undertake a four-year degree or even more to be a certified public accountant. Today however, there are many accounting courses online programs that allow you to take even one or two years of online account coursework and get you ready for a para-professional accounting position in either taxation or in auditing.

One of the accounting courses that are available is book keeping. This involves keeping track of financial records that includes such things as debited and credited accounts and updating the companys general ledger. Book keeping is essential since it ensures that the trial balance document balances with the debit and credit balance accounts. Before the companys account can prepare any financial statements, these two documents must tally. Book keeping also involves keeping track and preparation of invoices and the updating of inventory accounts.

Another of the accounting courses available is a specialized branch of accounting called financial accounting. This coursework allows one to keep track of a companys financial transactions. These transactions are then summarized and presented in a financial statement. Financial statements are usually issued on a routine schedule and are considered external since they are widely circulated among the primary as well as the secondary recipients. These statements provide enough information to help others assess the value of a company.

Other accounting courses include payroll accounting, managerial and cost accounting. Payroll accounting courses include the study of payroll-related accounts such as salaries, wages, bonuses, social security costs, state income taxation among others. Since payroll accounting includes items that are subject to state and federal laws, a study of certain laws is necessary as part of the accounting courses. There are many online accounting courses being offered and many organizations recognize them just as traditional certifications. Check out what they have to offer and you may just be on the road to an exciting career in accounting.

However, with the emergence of online technologies and developments, accredited online universities are now a perfectly viable option for the adult student. In fact, many so-called "brick and mortar" schools are aggressively expanding their extension programs and distance learning. Why? Because accredited online universities have many advantages that other schools don't have.

First of all, accredited online universities, as their name implies, go through accreditation processes just like other schools. This insures that the education you receive is worth the tuition that you pay for them. Secondly, the amount of expenditures that accredited online universities need to exist is drastically lower because simply they don't have any real estate to pay off, maintain or staff. This savings is passed on to you with lower tuitions and a variety of scholarships and financial aid.

When choosing an online degree program, consider the market trends. Many today who are taking an online course from an accredited online university recognize that the market sometimes will demand more than what they currently. Hence the need to advance. Business Administration degrees seem to be favored by many and many accredited online universities offer an Associate Degree or a Bachelors degree in Business Administration. If you have life experience in administration or organization, most institutions will reduce the time it takes to finish your Bachelors in B.A. Thus, you not only get to continue working as you learn, but you also do it in a relatively short period of time, sometimes in 2 years or less.

Troubled by acne? Here's an acne diet that works!

Acne plagues a huge number of teens and young adults. People with naturally oily skin tend to fall victim to acne, usually in the the adolescent stages. You've probably heard all the comforting remarks ... you'll grow out of this stage and when the rest of your peers are looking wrinkled in their 40s, you'll be looking young.... However, that's not much comfort today. While it is true that people with more natural oil in their skin do usually retain youthful skin for years longer than their dry-skinned counterparts, this doesn't do you much good as a teen who desires a clear complexion now. An acne diet that works, both today and twenty years from now, is an effective solution to a clear complexion now and a youthful look in later years.

Diet is key to a good complexion, whether you are prone to acne or not. If you suffer from acne, take up this acne diet program and watch how your skin benefits, from simple changes and practices in the foods you eat.

The main nutrients which affect and nourish the skin are vitamins A, C, E and zinc. As you might guess, these nutrients are found in abundance in produce. Many people who suffer from acne are deficient in these nutrients. While you may think you're getting plenty of produce, it may be that you need these nutrients in greater quantities than other people. Genetic factors can play a role. For example, the medical community consistently warns us of the dangers of too much sodium. However, certain ethnic groups, such as Native Americans and Eskimos, seem to have a need for large quantities of salt, while still maintaining perfect blood pressure.

The acne diet program should include extra amounts of the anti-acne nutrients to counteract the excess oil production, while still maintaining a healthy dose of nutrients which gives a proper balance between oils and well nourished skin.

Salads are the ideal menu item in the acne diet. Dark green, leafy veggies are full of nutrients which combat acne. Snip copious amounts of fresh parsley into every salad, along with brightly colored vegetables, such as citrus fruits, avocados (loaded with vitamin E), sweet bell peppers, a plentiful source of vitamin A and C, and avocados, replete with vitamin E. Fruit and vegetable juices are also an integral part of the acne diet program. Eating just one power-packed salad each day can reduce outbreaks of acne tremendously. Learn to like your produce.

Here's a short list of the fruits and veggies which make up a successful acne diet: apples, avocados, grapes, blueberries, bananas, cantaloupe, artichokes, carrots, corn, broccoli and cucumbers. The acne diet program can find many ways to integrate these foods in to a delicious way to eliminate acne.

There are so many ways to vary your acne diet, you should never become bored with your menus. Try to use organically grown produce, as possible. You'll get more bang for your nutrition buck this way.

As for the rest of your menu items, stay away from fatty and deep-fried foods. Likewise, avoid caffeine and saturated fats. Want a treat? Broil some fish and some garlic bread, brushed with olive oil to accompany your salad. Dice up a tomato and sprinkle some olives and minced garlic on top of the bread. Enjoy!

So what should you avoid in an acne diet program? Caffeine, sugar and fried foods.

These simple guidelines will lead you to a beautiful complexion!

Acoustic Electric Guitar

Though it will depend on what type of music you play, acoustic guitar can almost always be a great addition to any live show. There are some kinds of music that it wont fit in with very well, but there are also many types that depend on it to get the perfect sound. Though you can play an acoustic in a small place and everyone will hear it, there are times when you need to amplify the sound. One of the best ways to do this is to use an acoustic electric guitar. You get the great acoustic sound you want without having to try to mike up the guitar through the sound system, which can be heard to get just right.

My husband has an acoustic electric guitar, but he doesnt use it very much any more. He used to be in a band that needed one, and he was the one that went out to buy it. Though there were a lot of different kinds of acoustic electric guitar from which to choose, he went with the one that had the best sound. This isnt always an option for some bands though. Sometimes you have to go with what you can afford, and if you only need it for a song or two, you may not want to blow big bucks to get one.

Its not just a band that might use an acoustic electric guitar. Many who are solo performers like to use one as well. Though many of them are plugged in, I do think you can get a wireless one so that you have more freedom of motion. You do have to be careful when you get close to microphones with an acoustic electric guitar though, because you may end up with feedback, just like with an electric. Its not much of an issue usually, but if you are playing in a cramped space you might have worries.

If you want to save a lot of money on an acoustic electric guitar, you can buy one used. If you only need it for a song, you really dont want to spend a lot of money to get one. You can find them almost anywhere you buy other types of guitars, and some shops will have used models that you can buy. You can also look on eBay or in your local paper for classified ads. Just make sure you plug it in and play it before you buy. You dont want to buy an acoustic electric guitar that sounds bad no matter how good the deal is you are being offered.

Looking for acrylic frames

Acrylic frames are a smart investment for most folks because of their price and durability. Cheaper and less easily damaged than wood, they come in all shapes and sizes, and can usually be had for less than their natural counterparts. You can also find acrylic frames that are designed to look exactly like wooden frames, so if you're going for the natural look you'll be in good shape.

Of course, most acrylic frames are of the purely translucent variety. They're designed to hold a single picture with no actual "framing", making them them more stands than frames. These can be found all over the internet, from EBay to Overstock.com to literally hundreds of retailers, large and small, that can provide what you're looking for. Many will have the ability to provide custom shapes and sizes if that's what you need. Got a standard size picture that you want to display? You'll be good to go within seconds. Need a stand for something larger? There are acrylic frames that can work for you there, too.

I personally have nearly all our pictures in acrylic frames in the house. Having two cats that like to knock things over has made it almost a necessity to make as much of the house shatter-proof. They knock it down and it goes boom, but I can just put it back up on the shelf and not have to worry about cleaning up shattered glass or splintered wood. Learned that lesson early - our older cat is a real climber who simply adores knocking stuff off of shelves. It's some weird compulsion that I'm sure other cat owners can relate to.

Pricing on acrylic frames is tough to beat. You can get an eight-and-a-half by eleven inch frame for six bucks if you do a bit of digging. Smaller frames will obviously be cheaper. And the best way, as always, is to buy in bulk. You can probably find big box retailers like Costco or Sam's Club that will sell acrylic frames for as cheap as a dollar a piece as long as you're willing to buy about fifty of them. It's not a bad investment, really.

If you're looking for a little higher class, you can check out top-end retailers like Crate and Barrel, which has their own line of acrylic frames that most consider to be stylish and acceptable in just about any decorative motif. Or you can aim even higher - Williams Sonoma has acrylic frames, too. Obiously you'll be paying more at these places - significantly more at Williams Sonoma - but if the style is what you want for your decorating, then go for it. It's not written anywhere that all plastic is gaudy.

Well, actually it probably is, but I don't necessarily think you should trust people who make broad generalizations, since all broad generalizations are false.

Action Arcade Gaming

Arcade games have been around since the era of the first PC. Action arcade games have undergone major improvements since then and todays games seem to be just as popular as they were back then. The proliferation of video games however has not been so welcoming from a number of communities. Controversy surrounding action arcade games from leading professionals has resulted in game bans, mass action and review of certain national laws that limit who plays the games. Studies have shown that action games can lead to addiction, violent behavior and other problems. In recent years, school violence in many schools has also been linked with playing of violent video games.

With advances in game development, the once ancient games seem to be on a comeback. However, their return is more dramatic. Realistic gameplay, awesome effects and vibrant cut scenes allow players to relive the experiences of game. Action arcade games also seem to have a plot that players follow. This makes them more involving and challenging. Some role playing games have also been developed based on movies. As a result, they have had more following among both hardcore gamers as well as movie lovers. It seems that the thin line between role-playing games are real action arcade games is getting blurred.

Before purchasing games, it is wise to consider the game rating based on the Entertainment Software Rating Board. Some games are outwardly violent or have sexually explicit overtones. A game does not have to have these negative connotations to be enjoyed. This rating helps parents to make an informed decision as to what they want their children to be exposed to. However, the rating is not enough. It may also be necessary to read online reviews and see what the game actually is all about. Some games, though not having explicit content may encourage such things as use of vulgar language, a materialistic lifestyle or racial discrimination. Taking the time to choose the right kind of game to play is therefore important.

Online action arcade games are also on the rise. Online gaming allows players to have a one-on-one game challenge with players from around the world. Many portals allow players to connect with players via their console for a small fee or for free and chat as they play. Online game interactivity seems to be on the rise and with many games being developed with an online gameplay mode; online gaming seems to have finally come of age, even for action arcade games.
