So you need to keep your career profile current and not expect it to be permanent. Take online classes in various technical fields. Go the extra mile at work to expand your resume a bit, so that if you do have to some day find a new job, you won't be shoehorned or pigeonholed into something that doesn't have a great life expectancy.

A simple google search can turn up advisors, anecdotes, online universities and colleges that specialize in continuing education, and options above and beyond everything just mentioned. This is the best place to start your search.
