Boxed Holiday cards are an economical, but very merry way

Boxed Holiday cards are an economical, but very merry way to say 'Merry Christmas'!

Sending out holiday cards is one of my personal favorites in terms of spreading the cheer and joy of the season. Some of us do have a long list of recipients for our Christmas card list. Rather than make that list shorter, I look for ways to be sure each and every person on my list gets at least a card! However, rising costs of every product we buy these days can make this policy a challenge. To rise to the challenge, here's a little secret: boxed Christmas cards are the way to go! Let's take a look at how you can fulfill your holiday card list without busting the budget.

Most of us like to get a few individual, or pricier boxed holiday cards for people we're close to, such as Mom and Dad, our kids and special friends. One of my favorite sources for particularly beautiful cards is the Metropolitan Museum in New York. You can order online or visit one of their shops throughout the country. As with most retailers, you can find some bargains at the Met Shop lovely boxed Christmas cards with a BOGO price. It's worth your while to check this option out.

At the other end of the budget spectrum, you can find some real deals at the dollar-type stores, with cards that express the Christmas sentiments you're looking for, but at quite wallet-friendly prices. Of course, the earlier you shop, the better the selections. The main difference between the higher priced Christmas cards and the cheapest ones lies mainly in the paper they're printed on, and the size of each card. You won't find a lot of glossy finishes or large cards, but hey you're sending the season's greetings!

Watch your store sale papers often, stationery and office supply stores advertise boxed Christmas cards at sale prices, in hopes that you'll come in and buy a few other goodies that are more in the gift line. So, keep your eyes open and take advantage of these sales. Visit a gift card shop at the mall and see what they have on hand. You're likely to find some deals there, too.

Another nice option for buying Christmas cards is the family photo card, which you can make yourself at little cost. Take a few pictures, pick the ones you like best, then, print as many copies as you'll need. Get some card stock at the stationery supply, envelopes and a jar of school glue, and make this a family activity. Ask the person with the best penmanship to write a personal message and you've got a batch of terrific Christmas cards. If you've got some pet lovers on your card list, remember to take a few photos of the family pet(s), with an accessory or two (Santa hat, sunglasses or whatever).

Just because you can save some money when buying, or making, your own boxed holiday cards, doesn't detract one iota from the 'thought that counts' factor. Have a very Merry Christmas!
