A program that was not incorrectly written may hold up some memory even after closing it. As you open and close such programs, they take up some memory without releasing it. In time, they take up so much memory that the system cannot run properly and therefore locks up. Use memory manager software that helps manage your used and unused memory to resolve these programs.
