Canada holidays are much like the United States', they just celebrate them at the wrong time. We have our Independence Day in the United States on July 4; their "Canada Day" (creative title, eh?) comes three days earlier. And it's not actually their "independence day," since they're still part of the crown commonwealth. Queen Elizabeth is on their money, after all.
See how Canada Holidays are a little weird? Thanksgiving is a good one to illustrate this point further. In the United States, Thanksgiving is celebrated on the fourth Thursday in November. Naturally, since it was first celebrated by a bunch of religious zealots (the Pilgrims and Puritans) to give thanks for their deliverance from the harsh New England winter by friendly natives, it has some religious undertones here. It's become more secular as the years have gone by, which is all well and good given the diversity of the nation and given the "thanks" those original settelers exated upon the friendly natives in the following decades.
In Canada, Thanksgiving is celebrated on the second Monday in October. What? You're doing it wrong!
Ok, so it's their country so they can celebrate however and whenever they like. But it all just seems a little weird - this mix of American and European influence has created a veritable northern Frankenstein of a country, a mix-and-match hodgepodge of Eurotrash and lumberjacks. It's dizzying, and Canada holidays sort of bear that out.
Of course, by "canada holidays" you could very well mean "canada vacations," and it just occurred to me now that that's the likely topic of your search. In that case, I can't do anything but recommend going to Montreal poste haste (that's French!). My one trip to that fair city was during early autumn for a bachelor party, and those of us that went had the time of our lives. Montreal's mix of French and Anglo culture, along with a strong colonial north American identity, makes it an ideal destination for those looking for something a bit exotic without an accompanying exotic price tag.
I've also been told by friends that Quebec City and Vancouver are two of the best places for Canada Holidays, but can't vouch for that myself. Perhaps the next bachelor party will bring me to one of thsoe spots!
