Common Memory Problems We all Deal With

To store something in memory isn't a simple one step thing as far as the brain is concerned. It's not like a computer writing something to hard disk. The thing is, the brain knows that stored memory is useless unless it provides you with several ways to retrieve it. So instead of actually storing something in memory directly, it will build an article of memory up with several pieces involving several senses. And it will link everything to several other pieces of memory and pieces of logic. All of these are in different parts of the brain. When you remember something, you have to rebuild everything all those locations. No wonder people have memory problems.

Well, as we grow older, many of us (except my 80-year-old mother) just lose our ability to rebuild memory. Let's take a look at the different kinds of memory problems that there are, and find out what you could do to help with these problems.

Memory has this quality as often as you remember something, your brain finds ways to hang on fast to those. If you never think about how you used to play with your friends on your street when you were 10, you're going to forget more and more details as you age. This memory problem happens to be natural it's just the way our brains are built.

Absent-mindedness is certainly a memory problem that people tend to associate with growing old and not being on ones game. People can get this even when they're young when they don't really pay attention to what they're doing. When they absently put their cell phones somewhere without paying attention to what they're doing, they can forget 2 seconds later where they left it. Of course, the way to not do this is to not be absent to actually present in whatever you doing. This isnt so much a memory problem as it is a personality trait. If it's a personality and not pay attention to what you're doing, that's what you to fix.

When you're past 50 or so, don't be surprised when you begin to forget names and words. It'll be there right on the tip of your tongue, but you won't be able to quite bring it out. What goes on? No, your memory hasn't faded. You havent actually forgotten the words. Something happens and there's a problem with retrieving what's right there. They call this memory problem blocking. There is another form that were all familiar with. Who doesn't know a mother or father or someone who always calls out to one of their children by another child's name?

This kind of memory problem actually was used to hilarious effect in the sitcom friends where the character Ross goes and says the name of another woman at his wedding. Doctors have one way to show you out of this be more deliberate when you speak.
